Timeline for Fall 2017 Semester

  • August 20th - Signups begin
  • September 17th - Groups start
  • October & November - NLG Outreach Projects Months
  • December 10th - Last week for Fall Semester

The three-fold purpose of these small groups is:

  • assimilate new attendees and members.
  • minister more directly to the needs of our people in areas that interest them.
  • encourage the spiritual development of our future leaders.

Regular Sunday School will continue the same, but those desiring to participate in a New Life Group in an area that interests them are welcome to do so. The curriculum is DVD and discussion driven unlike the regular classroom setting. A small group setting encourages each participant to share and share alike around what they are learning and experiencing together.

It is our hope through New Life Groups (NLGs) we can more fully experience our new life in Christ and embrace the "It's A New Day" vision God has given us as a church.

NLGs are for up to 12 people who meet on Sundays at 9:15 am or 5:30 pm each week. They are a great way to have fun, learn, and meet new people. You can choose whatever group best suits you.

NLGs are offered twice a year and meet for approximately 9 weeks - once at the beginning of the year and once in the fall. There's no long-term commitment to a specific topic or group. You can study on marriage one semester then find out about Paul's letters to the churches the next. Several topics are offered each semester so there's bound to be something for everyone!

Crazy Love - by Francis Chan

Hosted by Chuck Provance
Meets on Sundays at 5:30 pm. - 10 weeks

It's crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe—the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor—loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss.

Whether you've verbalized it yet or not, we all know something's wrong.

Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationships with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts—it's falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you're wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.

The Circle Maker - by Mark Batterson

Hosted by Cori Carroll
Meets on Sundays at 5:30 pm. - 4 weeks

According to Pastor Mark Batterson in his book, The Circle Maker, “Drawing prayer circles around our dreams isn’t just a mechanism whereby we accomplish great things for God. It’s a mechanism whereby God accomplishes great things in us.” Do you ever sense that there’s far more to prayer, and to God’s vision for your life, than what you’re experiencing? It’s time you learned from the legend of Honi the Circle Maker―a man bold enough to draw a circle in the sand and not budge from inside it until God answered his prayers for his people.

What impossibly big dream is God calling you to draw a prayer circle around? Sharing inspiring stories from his own experiences as a circle maker, Mark Batterson will help you uncover your heart’s deepest desires and God-given dreams and unleash them through the kind of audacious prayer that God delights to answer.

The Smart Stepfamily - by Ron L. Deal

Hosted by Jarrett and Amy Bullock
Meets on Sundays at 5:30 pm. - 6-8 weeks

Ron Deal explodes the myth of the "blended" family as he provides practical, realistic solutions to the issues that stepfamilies face. He helps remarried and soon-to-be married couples:

  • Recognize the unique personality and place of each family member.
  • Solve the everyday puzzles of stepparenting and stepchildren relationships.
  • Learn communication skills to deal with ex-spouses.
  • Honor families of origin while developing new traditions.
  • Invest the time to grow their stepfamily slowly rather than look for instant results.

No two stepfamilies are alike, and the principles, information, illustrations, discussion questions, and activities in The Smart Stepfamily help couples focus on their specific situation to build healthy marriages and peaceful families. Based on Ron Deal’s nationwide stepfamily seminars, this material is equally helpful for couples, small groups, pastors, and counselors.

Bringing Up Boys - by Dr. James Dobson

Hosted by Howard and Bonnie Winberry
Meets on Sundays at 5:30 pm.  - 4 weeks

Sensible advice and caring encouragement on raising boys from the nation’s most trusted parenting authority, Dr. James Dobson.

With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it’s no wonder so many parents and teachers are asking questions about how to bring up boys. Why are so many boys in crisis? What qualities should we be trying to instill in young males? Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, an entire generation of boys is growing up without a clear idea of what it means to be a man. In the runaway bestseller Bringing Up Boys, Dr. Dobson draws from his experience as a child psychologist and family counselor, as well as extensive research, to offer advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. (This new edition is part of Dr. James Dobson’s Building A Family Legacy initiative.)
